Timothy Visits Harrogate Grammar School
Friday 4th May 2007
Sixth formers in Harrogate received a visit from their MEP this week after a student got in touch for information about the European Parliament.
Timothy Kirkhope MEP, leader of the Conservatives in the European Parliament and MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, decided that rather than simply write back, he would offer to visit Harrogate Grammar School.
Mr Kirkhope, who lives near Harrogate, said:
“I was written to by Ruth Longley, a student, asking me a number of questions about the European Parliament.
“Instead of just writing back, I offered to visit her and her colleagues to answer their questions face to face and talk with them. It was a very useful visit. As MEP I do like to visit schools in my region to talk about my work so this was another useful opportunity.”
