Conservative European Team Announced

Tuesday, 27 February 2007

Conservatives in the European Parliament today announce the team that will continue to fight for British interests in Brussels and Strasbourg and take forward a reform agenda.

The Conservative MEP delegation has secured a number of major positions in the Parliament during the recent mid-term negotiations.

Among these important positions are Neil Parish, Chairman of the Agriculture Committee, Philip Bradbourn, Vice-Chairman of the Justice and Home Affairs Committee, John Purvis, Vice-Chairman of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee and Timothy Kirkhope, Vice-Chairman of the Constitutional Affairs Committee.

In addition, the delegation continues to be represented at the highest level in the European Parliament with the re-election of Edward McMillan-Scott as a Vice President.

Struan Stevenson has also been re-elected as the European Democrat Vice-President of the EPP-ED Group.

Timothy Kirkhope MEP, leader of the Conservatives in the European Parliament said: "The Conservative European team which will lead us into the 2009 European elections is not only the largest group of British MEPs but the most effective.
